Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona this summer.
The Red Devils recently finalised a transfer fee with Barcelona for the midfielder, but he has yet to agree personal terms.
This is primarily due to the fact that the club owe him wages of around €17 million that were deferred over the past two years.
According to Independent, talks are underway between Barcelona and the player's entourage in order to find a resolution.
Barcelona's initial offer of €7m has been rejected, and they may need to pay his outstanding wages outright for him to leave.
The Catalan giants seem determined to push him through the exit door this summer as they need funds to sign Jules Kounde.
The club need to make a big sale before purchasing the Frenchman. De Jong has been identified as the ideal player to make way.
This should play into United's favour. It has been claimed that De Jong is willing to reunite with Erik ten Hag if his salary issue is resolved.
