Chelsea have failed with a third proposal to sign Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana, according to The Telegraph.
The west London giants are determined to land the Frenchman from the Foxes, but have yet to meet the asking price for him.
While the Foxes are said to demand around £85 million, the Blues are reluctant to pay more than £70m up front for the defender.
As per The Telegraph, a fresh bid of £70m plus add-ons was made for Fofana, but the bid was swiftly turned down by the Foxes.
The add-ons would potentially take the deal to £80m, but it involves Chelsea winning the Premier League and Champions League.
Neither of those will be easily attainable in the near future, considering the Blues are now in a period of transition after losing key players.
Chelsea have made a poor start to the current campaign, and they are currently in the bottom half with four points from three games.
