Chelsea will make a fresh move to sign Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez, according to reports from Spain.
The Mexican was the Blues' top midfield target heading into the penultimate day of the summer transfer window, but Ajax refused to sell.
Despite this, the west London giants have not given up on the 24-year-old, and Fichajes claim that they could return for him at the turn of the year.
The Blues were willing to pay €50m for the holding midfielder this summer, and it is claimed that Ajax would accept a similar fee in January.
Alvarez was hugely disappointed with Ajax's decision, but he is now fully committed to the club knowing Chelsea will return for him this winter.
The Blues signed Denis Zakaria on loan from Juventus on transfer deadline day, but they are still actively looking to bolster their midfield options.
Aside from Alvarez, they are also looking into a deal for Dynamo Moscow's Arsen Zakharyan, though the move is more complicated at the moment.
