Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge has said that he was not close to joining Chelsea or Liverpool this summer.
The Norwegian was heavily linked with a return to the Premier League last month. He was touted to join either the Blues or the Reds.
However, a deal never materialised before the deadline and he has now revealed that a transfer did not work out for Sheffield.
He told TV2: "There was a lot of interest, concrete interest, you weighed things up a bit, it had to work out for both the club and me, and it didn’t happen."
When pressed on the Premier League interest, he added: "There is nothing negative about clubs of that size being mentioned, but you shouldn’t put too much into it."
Berge has been committed to the Championship outfit since their relegation, and he could play a key role in their promotion this term.
The Blades have been in stellar form in the second tier this campaign. They are currently top with 23 points after just 10 matches.
Berge has made a huge contribution in the fascinating run. The 24-year-old has amassed three goals and three assists in those games.
