Manchester United have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race to sign Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile next month.
The Frenchman was on the radar of United two years ago, but he turned down their advances to continue his development at Monaco.
Chelsea are now interested in signing him at the turn of the year, but Foot Mercato claim that United could offer stiff competition.
The Blues are ready to pay around €40m for the central defender, but the valuation could go up with United back in the pursuit.
It remains to be seen whether Badiashile will consider them. He may not have a guaranteed starting role under manager Erik ten Hag.
On the other hand, he could be a regular starter for the Blues. The London giants could play him regularly on the left side of the back three.
Hence, United are facing a losing battle and they should instead focus on strengthening their attack during the January transfer window.
