Chelsea and Arsenal are both interested in signing West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice in the summer.
The England star has played his entire career with the Hammers, but he is expected to move on at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old is eyeing Champions League football but The Express claim that he could stay put in the English capital.
Chelsea obviously have a strong bond with Rice. He was in their academy until the age of 14 before being released.
Rice was previously open to rejoining the Blues, but his stance may change if they don't qualify for the Champions League.
At the moment, they are lying 10th in the league table. With a 10-point gap to the top four, it looks likely that they may miss out.
That could hand a huge advantage to the Gunners, who are currently top of the table and in a good position to make the top four.
Arsenal are presently 11 points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand.
