Chelsea are prepared to make an improved transfer offer to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to Ben Jacobs.
The Blues are determined to sign a defensive midfielder this month and they have their sights on pursuing Caicedo from the Seagulls.
Their opening offer of £55 million was dismissed by the south Coast outfit, but the club are preparing a fresh proposal for the Ecuadorian.
Brighton don't have any plans to sell him at the moment, but it is claimed that their stance could change for a fee of around £80 million.
It will be interesting to see whether the Blues are prepared to meet their demands for Caicedo, who has the potential to be world-class.
The midfielder is brilliant with his tackling and distribution. His traits can be compared with huge Chelsea fan favourite N'Golo Kante.
Kante's presence has been limited in the past few years amid injuries and Caicedo could be a straightforward replacement for him.
