Chelsea reportedly monitored the performance of Goncalo Ramos during Benfica's 2-1 defeat to Porto on Friday.
The west London giants are expected to spend on a new striker this summer and Ramos is one of their top targets.
It is now revealed that scouts from the Blues were in attendance to watch the Portuguese in action against Porto.
The 21-year-old failed to find the back of the net in the defeat, but the Blues should continue to keep tabs on him.
Ramos has had a stellar season with Benfica, bagging 25 goals and providing 10 assists from 36 matches.
He has been touted to pursue a bigger challenge next season but Benfica are unlikely to sell him on the cheap.
The striker currently has a release clause worth €120 million in his deal and Benfica may not accept anything less.
Chelsea have already done business with them, having signed Enzo Fernandez during the January transfer window.
They also spoke about Ramos during the negotiations and this could provide them an edge over their rivals.
