10 May 2008 - 23:50

Bordeaux ensured that the fight for the Ligue 1 title will go the final day after a 2-0 victory over Sochaux saw them keep up with Lyon; who won 1-0 at home to Nancy. The final round of the season is sure to be a cracker.

  • Chelsea stance on sacking Liam Rosenior revealed
  • Chelsea midfielder to join Inter Milan this summer?
  • Strikes from Fernando Menegazzo and Marouane Chamakh made sure of the win for Laurent Blanc's men, who will try to deny Lyon a seventh league title in succession when they visit Lens next weekend.

Laurent Blanc's title-chasers were lucky to escape conceding a penalty to Sochaux after just 13 minutes when Souleymane Diawara's two-footed defensive tackle on Sebastien Grax caused uproar although a penalty was denied.

Fernando finally found the net for Bordeaux with a low angled shot following a corner in first half injury time.

The second goal came in the second half when a superb cross from Benoit Tremoulinas found Chamakh to send home a cracking header.
