Manchester United have confirmed that Amad Diallo will be ruled out for the first half of the season with a knee injury.
The Ivorian sustained the setback during the 2-0 friendly win over Arsenal, and it was initially considered as a short-term problem.
Diallo was back in the matchday squad against Real Madrid, but he did not play any part after United decided to reassess him.
The club have now confirmed that the winger won't be involved for the rest of the year as he recovers from a knee concern.
The news is a big blow for the Red Devils, who have already lost Kobbie Mainoo for 2023 with a freak ankle injury.
Both Amad and Mainoo are considered as big prospects for the Red Devils, but they won't be involved until next year.
Meanwhile, United have not completed their transfer business yet and they could sign a defensive midfielder very soon.
Sofyan Amrabat has been highlighted as the prime target for manager Erik ten Hag. A bid could be made in the coming weeks.
