Chelsea could miss out on signing Montpellier striker Elye Wahi amid interest from Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Wahi was hugely impressive for the French outfit last season. He scored 19 goals and provided six assists in 33 Ligue 1 games.
His progress has caught the eye of the Blues, but they are currently reluctant to meet the transfer demands of Montpellier for him.
The Blues have proposed to pay around €27.5m including add-ons, but the French outfit are reluctant to accept less than €35m for his services.
Amidst this, Frankfurt have entered the pursuit of the young striker, and they are prepared to negotiate a fee closer to the price tag.
The Bundesliga outfit are prepared to guarantee the striker with playing time unlike Chelsea, who are planning to loan him out.
The Blues want to send Wahi on loan to their sister club Strasbourg next season before integrating him into their squad next summer.
Wahi has yet to agree personal terms with any club.
