Chelsea are set to sign Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams after triggering the relegation release clause in his contract.
The USA international was a vital player from the number six role for the Whites last term. He was one of the best tacklers in the Premier League.
Following Leeds' relegation, he was touted to return to the top-flight, and Chelsea have now won the race to sign him from the Yorkshire outfit.
They have triggered the £20m relegation release clause in his contract and he could be formally announced as a new player by Friday afternoon.
Adams should be a fantastic signing for the Blues, who lack an experienced defensive midfielder after N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic's exit.
The 24-year-old should seamlessly adapt to the Premier League after a fine debut season with Leeds. He could be one of the signings of the season.
Adams may not be the only defensive midfielder joining the Blues in the coming days. The club are hot on the trail of Moises Caicedo.
