Manchester United have made first contact to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils are currently on the verge of parting ways with Harry Maguire. The England international is expected to join West Ham United.
As a result, they are exploring a replacement for him and Romano claims that contact has been established with Bayern over a possible transfer.
The German champions have yet to give the green light for the move, but they could do so soon as Pavard has entered the last year of his contract.
Pavard is eager to try out a new experience away from the Bundesliga, and he is excited by the prospect of joining United in the Premier League.
Bayern currently value him in the region of €30m. A transfer could be a formality once United reach an agreement with the Bundesliga giants.
Jean-Clair Todibo is another player that has been linked with the Red Devils, but manager Erik ten Hag prefers to land Pavard instead.
