The contingent of players moving to Saudi Arabia continues to grow, as today Al-Hilal secured the signing of Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrović in a deal worth an estimated £50 million. The Serbian forward wanted to leave West London and will earn around £750,000 a week in the Middle East.
This deal ends Mitrovic's stay in England where he had two spells with Newcastle and the Cottagers. With Newcastle, Mitrovic appeared 65 times and for Fulham 173 times, scoring 97 goals.
Fulham did not want to sell the striker, who last season scored 14 goals in 24 games, and despite signing Raul Gimenez from Wolves, Mitrovic's departure does leave a goalscoring gap in the club's attack.
"I got information before the match and now the confirmation from the club after the match too that he's on his way to leave the club," Marco Silva said after Fulham's 3-0 defeat to Brentford.
"Both clubs they got an agreement and now is the moment to finish the era of Mitrovic in our club.
"He forced everything to leave the club, he wanted to leave the club," he added. "In the end they reached an agreement and now is the moment for us to keep playing and working without him."
