Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto is considered one of Brazil's best young strikers, and West Ham have been pursuing a permanent deal for the 22-year-old who has previously spent time playing in Russia for Zenit. Alberto, who has one cap for Brazil's national team, returned to Brazil this year and has already scored four goals in 10 league games.
Gianluca Scamacca failed to impress while at the Irons, and was sold to Atalanta in the transfer window for around £27 million. West Ham are still missing an attacker in their squad, and Yuri Alberto is a name they have been chasing for most of the transfer window.
As talks had reached a deadlock, Alberto's club Corinthians left the negotiating table but a sudden change of mind means that West Ham could sign the talent for a transfer fee of around £30 million on deadline day.
The Hammers have been very active in the transfer window, with arrivals of James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus all moving to East London.
However, a striker is what West Ham desperately want before the transfer window slams shut this evening.
