Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has said that he was not close to leaving the Red Devils this summer.
The Sweden international was linked with the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus in the last transfer window, but he stayed put with the club.
United boss Erik ten Hag made it clear that he was not leaving, and Lindelof has revealed that he did not contemplate the prospect of a new challenge.
He said: "I love Manchester United and I still have a contract. So I can say that my exit this summer wasn't close at all."
Lindelof's current deal with the Red Devils expires in the summer of 2024, but United have the option for another year.
The club are open to committing him to a new long-term deal, but he may consider an exit if United make another signing.
At the moment, Lindelof is a regular starter whenever Raphael Varane is injured. The Frenchman is out for a few weeks.
