Manchester United have added Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio to their shortlist of transfer targets for next summer.
The Red Devils were keen on landing a centre-back in the recent transfer window, but their plans changed after Harry Maguire refused to leave.
The club were hoping to top up funds on Maguire's sale to secure their signing, but the former captain opted to stay put.
It is now reported that United are already planning for next summer and have identified multiple central defensive targets.
Antonio Silva, Edmond Tapsoba and Jean-Clair Todibo are among names on their radar and they have been joined by Inacio.
Inacio was waiting for a Premier League offer from United last summer, but he eventually signed a long-term deal with Sporting.
As a result, his release clause has increased from €45m to €60m, but this is still very much affordable for interested teams.
Aside from United, Liverpool are also admirers of Inacio, who is a left-footed centre-back with strong passing abilities.
