In an interview with ESPN, Monaco striker Folarin Balogun has revealed that his departure from Arsenal was out of his control.
The USA international had a fine season on loan with Reims last term. He netted 22 goals from 39 appearances in all competitions.
Despite his fine form, the Gunners made the decision to sanction his sale and Balogun admitted that the situation was out of his hands.
He said: "It [his future up in the air] wasn't something that made me feel anxious, it was just more a case of seeing what wanted to be done. It was out of my hands, that's how I felt. It wasn't something I could control."
Balogun had a tough start to his career at Monaco. The Gunners graduate missed two penalties in a 1-0 defeat to Nice at home.
He has since redeemed himself with two goals and an assist in the victories over Marseille and Reims. Monaco are top of Ligue 1.
