Nedved out of Czech squad

Nedved out of Czech squad

14 May 2008 - 23:10

It has today been revealed that Pavel Nedved will not make the squad for the upcoming tournament.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The 35 year old Juve playermaker has recently had talks with national team coach Karel Bruckner, but has effectively asked to not be included in the provisional 23 man squad.

"I spoke to him yesterday but nothing's changed,"

"He won't be in the team. By not saying otherwise he confirmed his decision."

Without starts Rosicky and Nedved, few will be tipping the Czechs to win the tournament this summer as they face Portugal, Turkey and joint hosts Switzerland in the group stages.

Czech Republic provisional 23 man squad for tournament:

Keepers: Jaromir Blazek, Petr Cech, Daniel Zitka

Defenders: Zdenek Grygera, Marek Jankulovski, Michal Kadlec, Tomas Sivok, Radoslav Kovac, Zdenek Pospech, David Rozehnal, Tomas Ujfalusi

Midfielders: Tomas Galasek, David Jarolim, Marek Matejovsky, Jaroslav Plasil, Jan Polak, Daniel Pudil, Libor Sionko, Stanislav Vlcek

Strikers: Milan Baros, Martin Fenin, Jan Koller, Vaclav Sverkos.
