Manchester United have confirmed that midfielder Casemiro will be out of action for several weeks with a hamstring injury.
The Brazil international recently returned from an ankle issue against Newcastle United in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
However, he was substituted at the interval. It has now been revealed that he sustained a hamstring injury during the opening half.
As a result, he could be sidelined for multiple weeks and reports claim that he may not return to training until the beginning of 2024.
The news is a huge blow for the Red Devils, who have lacked control in midfield since the beginning of the current campaign.
Sofyan Amrabat was signed as a competitor to Casemiro, but he has yet to adapt to the higher intensity of the Premier League.
Scott McTominay has also been inconsistent from the position while Kobbie Mainoo has just returned to full fitness after a knee injury.
Hence, the club face a tough road ahead across all competitions.
