Manchester United and Real Madrid could go head-to-head to sign Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio at the end of the season.
The Portuguese was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League during the summer, but there were no formal offers on the table.
Inacio eventually penned a new contract with Sporting which increased his release clause to €60m, but he could still leave the club.
Sporting are reluctant to lose him in January amid their fine start to the season, but they would be open to proposals next summer.
The Portuguese outfit are likely to hold out for his buy-out clause, but may be willing to accept staggered payments from a willing buyer.
Record claim that United and Madrid are most interested in the left-footed centre-back and they could go head-to-head for his services.
Inacio could fancy a move to the Premier League. He was awaiting for offers in the summer but was eventually left disappointed.
