Spurs join Dunne race

Spurs join Dunne race

15 May 2008 - 14:55

The Manchester City defender, Richard Dunne, has been a Newcastle target for summer and latest reports say that Spurs have joined the race to bag the services of the experienced centre-back.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • The aftermath of the Sven-Goran Eriksson 'issue' and the boardroom-politics has unsettled Dunne and it seems that he might be on the move next season. Newcastle is keenly interested in signing the Ireland international, Keegan being one of his admirers.

King Kev has managed him during his tenure at City and has already declared interest in Richard Dunne. The Spurs boss, Juande Ramos is looking to reinforce his defence and reports say that he would like Dunne to partner Jonathan Woodgate as the centre-back. Tottenham are still not sure about the long-term future of Ledley King, and it seems that the first-team slot is open for Dunne if he joins White Hart Lane.

Tottenham have European football in their favour and that would add some weight to their interests ahead of Newcastle.

Richard Dunne is rated £6M, though City would be reluctant to sell him at that price. A slightly higher bid would be necessary to lure him out of the City bounds.
