Rio Ferdinand has admitted he was delighted to finally agree a deal with his club Manchester United, and revealed that he was 'desperate' to make certain that his future was at the club.
Ferdinand has been in negotiations for some time and has secured a contract until 2013.
"To be able to stay at Manchester United for another five years is something I wanted desperately," Ferdinand said.
"You see the surroundings, training every day at Carrington and playing in front of 70,000-odd fans every week, what more could you ask for?"
