All Orange for Van Der Vaart

All Orange for Van Der Vaart

16 May 2008 - 08:15

Dutch international midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart has revealed his confidence that despite of the current in-squad turmoil in the Netherlands unit, the Orange can all the way to the final of the Euro 2008 and win the competition.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Netherlands are pitted against France, Italy and Romania in Group C which is arguably the toughest of the four groups in the competition. The Dutch commence their competition against reigning world champions Italy in Berne before confronting France and Romania.

Rafael van der Vaart is a key member of the Dutch national set-up and is coach Marco van Basten's top ace. He is only 25 years of age but has played 52 times already for his nation.

The Dutch team's morale for the competition has been dented somewhat by Clarence Seedorf's revelation of a tiff with van Basten and he is not eager to join the Dutch team for their summer Euro adeventure. But van der Vaart insists that even amidst such turmoil, the Orange can win the competition.

In an interview with the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper, Rafael van der Vaart said:

"We will go there [to Austria and Switzerland] to win. Of course we’re capable of doing it. A well-performing Dutch national side can win any tournament.

“Of course, each of the other teams will have this attitude. We need a little luck."
