Arsenal and Chelsea both interested in €80m African star

14 January 2024 - 20:10

Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in signing Sporting Lisbon defender Ousmane Diomande at the end of the season.

  • Man Utd expecting €80m boost with double player sale
  • Confirmed Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs PSG, Mamadou Sarr starts
  • Diomande has made a huge impression since his move to Portugal last winter and he is now a regular with his national team too.

The Ivory Coast star is currently at the African Cup of Nations and it is claimed that both London clubs are taking notes.

The duo are convinced that Diomande is prepared to go to the next level and their proposals could be made during the summer.

The centre-back currently has a release clause worth €80 million in his deal. Neither club is likely to afford his services this month.

Arsenal are focused on landing a new striker and a central midfielder this winter and are prepared to delay their move for Diomande.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have Financial Fair Play issues with their lavish spending in the last 18 months and can't afford him for now.

The Gunners could have a big advantage over the Blues in Diomande's pursuit as they are in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League.
