Manchester United have decided against pursuing a deal for Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad this summer, according to The Sun.
The Frenchman has opted to pursue a new challenge away from Saudi Arabia and he could return to Europe on an initial loan.
He has agreed to take a substantial pay-cut on his £1.65m per week wages, but United don't want to invest on him this winter.
The club are in a tough situation with Financial Fair Play and they don't want further complications with a huge wage bill on Benzema.
Al-Ittihad are likely to demand a decent loan fee for the 36-year-old while Benzema may want at least £300,000 weekly to join.
Hence, United are not expected to make a move for the former Real Madrid man, but he could still end up in the Premier League this winter.
Chelsea are exploring a move for the former Lyon graduate while Arsenal are also in the mix to land the highly experienced centre-forward.
