Predicted Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Man City, Mainoo starts

03 March 2024 - 14:10

Manchester United will be aiming to close the gap on the top four when they face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.

  • Chelsea duo return to partial team training
  • Chelsea planning to sell Sterling to sign Crystal Palace star?

  • The Red Devils are currently 11 points adrift of the final Champions League spot and the Manchester derby is a must-win for Erik ten Hag's side.

    Predicted Line-up:

Andre Onana has been a constant in goal for United this term. His form has vastly improved over the past few months and he needs a blinder today to get something out of the derby.

In front of him, no changes are expected in the backline. Diogo Dalot and Sofyan Amrabat should start in the right and left-back roles with Victor Lindelof partnering Raphael Varane in central defence.

Casemiro should be accompanied again by Kobbie Mainoo, who was handed a minor break from the starting XI in midweek. The United graduate has been a revelation since his breakthrough.

Further forward, we expect one change with Antony possibly dropping to the bench. We could see Bruno Fernandes from the right wing with Alejandro Garnacho on the left side of the attack.

Scott McTominay could figure from the number 10 role and could have the license to move higher up into a striker's position. Marcus Rashford is a nailed-on starter up front with Rasmus Hojlund injured.

Predicted Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1): Onana; Dalot, Lindelof, Varane, Amrabat; Casemiro, Mainoo; Fernandes, McTominay, Garnacho; Rashford.
