Manchester United are aiming to beat Chelsea in the race to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer, according to Independent.
The Red Devils have had a poor campaign by their high standards and they are currently 11 points adrift of the final Champions League spot.
Barring a miracle, they look set to miss out on the competition next term which would be a huge blow for a club of the calibre of United.
Despite this, the Red Devils have high ambitions for the summer and Independent claim that Osimhen is one of the top priorities.
The Nigerian striker signed a new contract at Napoli recently, but as part of the deal, there is a release clause in the region of €100 million.
Chelsea have already engaged with his representatives to find an agreement over personal terms but United look set to provide competition.
The Red Devils have Rasmus Hojlund who has been successful up front but they are aiming to add more quality in the final third for next season.
