Manchester United are also interested in signing Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The Portuguese was on the verge of joining Bayern Munich last summer. He underwent a medical with the German giants, but the deal did not materialise as Fulham could not land a replacement.

Palhinha ended up signing a new long-term deal with the Cottagers, but he is still widely expected to leave the club this summer.

United are one of the clubs interested in signing him but as things stand, Bayern continue to remain clear favourites in the race.

Despite the change of manager, Palhinha remains highly valued by Bayern. He has received the green light from Vincent Kompany.

Bayern want to sign him for around £30 million, but Fulham are adamant that they won't accept less than £60m for his services.

Talks are expected to continue between the clubs. Palhinha is hopeful that a middle ground can be found before the start of Euro 2024.
