Manchester United have made initial contact with Lille over the potential transfer of Leny Yoro, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Red Devils are currently in talks with Everton over Jarrad Branthwaite, but they are yet to find a compromise for a deal.
The club are willing to pay £43m for a transfer, but the Toffees are reluctant to accept anything less than £70m for his services.
Amidst this, the hierarchy are looking at alternative options and Sheth confirms that contact has been established with Lille for Yoro.
Yoro has been angling for a move to Real Madrid in recent weeks, but the European champions have no desire to meet the price tag.
Lille want at least €50-60m for their prized asset, but Los Blancos are unwilling to pay more than €30m due to his contract status.
Yoro's current deal expires at the end of next season and Carlo Ancelotti's side clearly have no desire to pay over the odds for him.
This could play into the hands of United. Yoro has privately accepted that he could choose another club if Madrid don't pay up soon.
