Arsenal have been linked with a transfer move to sign Burkina Faso international Nasser Djiga from Serbian side Red Star Belgrade. The 21-year-old has only recently moved to Serbia but could already be heading for the exit door after the Gunners apparently made contact with the club and a reported offer of £19 million could be forthcoming.
Djiga has previously played for Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands, before making a move to FC Basel in 2021. Two loan spells at Nimes and Red Star Belgrade followed, before the Serbian club opted to make a transfer deal permanent. Djiga has appeared five times for his country, scoring one goal.
Red Star had beaten a host of European clubs to the defender's signature, and secured the player's signing for a fee of around £4.5 million.
Djiga's preferred position is centre-back, but has also been deployed at right-back on occassion. The 21-year-old is expected to play as a backup to William Saliba and Gabriel in the future.
Djiga would be Arsenal's first signing of the summer should a deal be agreed next week.
