Manchester United have opened talks with the representative of Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt over a summer transfer.
The Red Devils are currently keen on landing Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton to bolster their central defensive department.
However, they are also eager to sign De Ligt, who could be available soon.
Bayern have already signed a new centre-back in Hiroki Ito. They are also in talks to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen.
If Tah were to join the club, it could pave the way for the departure of De Ligt, who will want the guarantee of regular minutes.
With Raphael Varane's exit at United, the club are looking for a right-footed star. De Ligt would be a perfect fit under Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag previously managed his Dutch compatriot at Ajax. De Ligt was the captain during his reign and made a big name for himself.
He has struggled to replicate the same level of performances since. A reunion with Ten Hag at United could change his fortunes.
