Aston Villa have secured a major coup in acquiring winger Jaden Philogene from Hull City in a deal worth a reported £18 million, with Philogene signing a five-year contract at Villa Park. The winger had an impressive campaign at Hull City last year, scoring 12 goals in 32 league games and will return to Aston Villa, the team that he departed in 2023.
It is a major surprise that the 22-year-old has opted to return to Villa Park, as numerous other Premier League sides had been interested in the player, including newly promoted Ipswich Town. It is understood that Villa had not promised a guaranteed starting place, but other teams had made promises to the Hammersmith-born player.
Signing a five-year contract, the player told the club's official website: "Unai spoke to me face-to-face and we had a very good conversation about my playing time.
"He said I did well when I was here in pre-season last year and that I’m going to get chances this time. It also depends on me and how I play."
