Chelsea have reached an agreement with Genk for the signature of Mike Penders, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues recently completed the purchase of Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal and he is expected to compete for the goalkeeping role with Robert Sanchez.
However, the club are also looking into the future and Romano reports that they have agreed a deal for 19-year-old Penders, who plays for Genk.
Penders is expected to undergo his medical with the Blues this weekend and he is likely to put pen-to-paper on a seven-year contract at the club.
The youngster will be loaned back to Genk for the upcoming campaign. The Belgian is considered as a star for the future with his huge potential.
Chelsea have not made any marquee signings in the current transfer window and it seems unlikely that their strategy will change soon.
The club are working on signing emerging talents rather than expensive stars. They have reportedly withdrawn their interest in Victor Osimhen.
