Chelsea have started talks with Manchester United over the transfer of Jadon Sancho before the deadline, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues are determined to sign another winger and they have now opened talks with the Red Devils regarding Sancho.
Sancho has already given the green light for the move, but a deal is complicated as United don't want a straight loan.
They have turned down a similar approach from Juventus and will only entertain permanent proposals for the attacker.
United are prepared to part ways with the 24-year-old for £40m. They are also willing to accept a loan with a buy obligation.
Chelsea are yet to make a formal transfer bid. They want to offload Raheem Sterling before making their move for Sancho.
Arsenal are interested in signing Sterling on deadline day, but the Gunners have no plans of paying a fee for the 29-year-old.
Sterling will have to terminate his Blues contract. He could otherwise join on loan with part of his wages compensated by Chelsea.
