Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Kobbie Mainoo remains doubtful to face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.
The United graduate picked up a hamstring injury against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, but he was part of the travelling squad to face Porto.
Mainoo was not included in the matchday squad in the end and speaking after the game, Ten Hag confirmed that Mainoo was not fit enough.
It was a big risk to play him at the Estadio do Dragao, and the club made the decision to give him extra rest ahead of the visit of Villa Park.
Ten Hag has now revealed that Mainoo will be assessed over the next 24 hours and a decision will be made over his role against Villa.
United are six points behind the top-four places and the upcoming game is a must-win to avoid losing further ground in the Champions League hunt.
A defeat on Sunday could also lead to the departure of Ten Hag.
