Huntelaar not sure

Huntelaar not sure

22 May 2008 - 05:41

AFC Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has admitted that his future is not really in his hands and that it is his club Ajax who have the final say in his future.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is committed to the Dutch giants for two more seasons but there have been loads of rumours and transfer reports suggesting that Aax would have to lose the highly rated Ducth international striker this summer.

Much of the speculation over Huntelaar's future stems from the fact that Ajax failed to qualify for next seson's UEFA Champions League. Huntelaar has always maintained that he would like to play in the Champions League and Ajax's failure to qualify for the competition is though to persuade the young striker to leave the Amsterdam Arena.

But Huntelaar told Setanta Sports that the final decision will be made by Ajax and not him:

"I’m currently with the national side and the rest is not in my hands.

“When you play well then you know that many clubs will be interested in you.

"But things are simple: I’m under contract for two more years and these clubs should talk to my employers first.

“And as long as Ajax doesn’t want to let go of me then I’ll stay in Amsterdam.”

The likes of Manchester United and FC Barcelona are said to be in the hunt for the prized asset of Ajax.
