Manchester United have confirmed the dismissal of manager Erik ten Hag following the Premier League defeat at West Ham United.
The Red Devils have had a dreadful start to the campaign and they have picked up only 11 points from their opening nine league games.
The club have been poor in Europe too with just three points from as many outings. Hence, Ten Hag's dismissal does not come as a surprise.
The Dutchman had a tough start despite the huge financial backing and the club have now decided to place Ruud van Nistelrooy on interim charge.
The former PSV Eindhoven boss accepted a coaching role at United despite having the opportunity to become the new manager at Burnley.
He has been part of the club for the last few months and has an opportunity to stake claim for a coaching role under the next head coach.
The former United striker will be in charge for the League Cup game against Leicester City and the league clash versus Chelsea.
