Manchester United are aiming to beat Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea to the signing of Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu, according to Sunday Mirror.
The Red Devils have had a dreadful first half to the Premier League season and they are currently 13th in the standings with just 19 points on the board.
Diogo Dalot had been the regular choice at left wing-back under manager Ruben Amorim, but the Portuguese's performances have been quite poor.
United clearly need an upgrade on Dalot, who is playing out of position and reports claim that they are keen on landing Dorgu from Lecce this winter.
Chelsea and Spurs previously made bids for the talented left-back, but their proposals were below the reported €35m asking price set by the Italian side.
United are now preparing to enter the race for his signature and they could make a much better offer than the London giants to land the Dane.
Dorgu has admitted in the past that he would like to play in England.
