Manchester United have suffered a major blow with Lisandro Martinez picking up a knee injury against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
The Argentine has been one of the stand-out performers under manager Ruben Amorim. He was brilliant in the recent win over Fulham on the road.
Martinez started against the Eagles in the top-flight on Sunday, but he was taken off on a stretcher in the second half after a painful knee injury.
Speaking after the 2-0 loss, Amorim acknowledged that the club are dealing with a serious situation with Martinez.
He was quoted as saying by Sky Sports: "I think it is a serious situation. A bad situation for us and especially for Licha.
United have had a dreadful Premier League campaign and they suffered their 11th defeat of the season against Palace.
With the loss, the club have dropped to 13th in the standings. Martinez's injury could urge United to pursue a replacement.
The club don't have funds at the moment due to PSR issues, and they could explore a loan deal until the end of the season.
