Gallas eyes Euro 2008 final

Gallas eyes Euro 2008 final

26 May 2008 - 00:51

Arsenal defender William Gallas believes that anything less than the final for his team France would mean the tournament would be considered a failure. France were unfortunate in the last major tournament; World Cup 2006; to miss out to Italy in the final.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Gallas is confident that France will be up there challenging for honours when the tournament comes to a close.

“We played the 2006 World Cup final, so not reaching the Euros final would be a failure, even if a European Championship is more difficult than a World Cup,” Gallas declared.

“I am optimistic for this France team, we are happy to be together, and then, on the pitch, we will make the effort to fight for each other.

“I can feel it, like during the 2006 World Cup."
