Real Madrid star defender Pepe has told the Madrid based Spanish sports daily Marca that he would like to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Pepe and Ronaldo are Portuguese international teammates and are set to feature heavily for the Portugal side this summer in Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. Pepe and Ronaldo are training with the team.
Pepe told Marca:
"I would much rather that Cristiano was with Real because it's better to have him as a companion than an adversary.
"Surely he'd be well-received, just as I was, but of course it is he who decides his own future."
Real Madrid have been hunting the signature of Ronaldo for over two years but the 23-year old's current club Manchester United have persistently fend off the Merengues.
