Chelsea have opened negotiations with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jamie Gittens before the Club World Cup this month, according to The Telegraph.
The Blues are keen on bolstering their wide attacking department and Gittens has been linked with the club over several weeks.
The hierarchy have now formalised their interest in the 20-year-old and negotiations are underway to sort out an agreement.
Gittens is regarded as one of the best young wingers in the Bundesliga. He registered 12 goals and five assists in the recent season.
Dortmund want at least £60 million to part ways with the highly-rated star, but Chelsea will hope to secure a discount on the price.
Chelsea and Dortmund are due to feature at the Club World Cup. The Blues want Gittens in their squad for the global tournament.
Aside from Gittens, the Blues are also keen on landing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. Talks have accelerated today.
Ekitike could be purchased for a package between £70-80m.
