Arsenal have decided to pursue alternatives to Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, according to The Athletic.
The Gunners were eager to land the 24-year-old last summer, but their proposal worth £20m was turned down before deadline day.
The London giants are no longer in the race due to Garcia's new stance.
Garcia agreed personal terms with the Gunners last summer and he was happy to play second fiddle to David Raya between the sticks.
However, he is now keen on a regular starting position on the back of an exceptional campaign with Espanyol in the Spanish top flight.
The news is a huge blow for the Gunners, who are searching for a new back-up goalkeeper after sending Neto back after his loan spell.
Neto was an emergency signing for last season. Arsenal are now expected to pursue a young goalkeeper, who can provide good cover for Raya.
Meanwhile, Garcia is reportedly on the verge of joining Barcelona.
