Manchester United have made their first move to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres this summer, according to Sky Sports.
The Red Devils are expected to pursue a new centre-forward with the shortcomings of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
Gyokeres has recently emerged as a target and reports claim that an initial approach has been made through intermediaries for him.
Manager Ruben Amorim is a huge admirer of the Sweden international, having managed him during his time at Sporting CP.
Gyokeres has a release clause worth £84 million in his contract, but he has a gentleman's agreement to depart for around £67 million.
The Red Devils could get a clear run at signing the striker, considering Arsenal and Chelsea have different plans for the summer.
The Gunners are fully focused on landing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig while Chelsea want to land Eintracht's Hugo Ekitike.
Hence, United could get a free run at signing Gyokeres, who netted a staggering 54 goals in all competitions for Sporting CP last term.
