Gittens deal to be hijacked?

Bayern Munich to hijack move for Chelsea bound winger?

24 June 2025 - 09:39

Sky Germany has today reported that Jamie Gittens may not end up at Chelsea after all, after Bayern Munich made a last ditch effort to sign the Englishman in a transfer deal that could be worth as much as 60 million euros. Gittens, currently at Borussia Dortmund, is one of this summer's top targets for several teams and had been widely expected to move to Stamford Bridge.

  • Man Utd make second bid to sign 20-goal winger
  • Chelsea ready to discuss Alejandro Garnacho swap deal

  • Surprisingly, Bayern Munich have made contact with Dortmund for the player and are prepared to usurp Chelsea's most recent offer of 57.5 million euros with add-ons and bid a reported 65 million euros.

Gittens, who had joined Dortmund in 2022 and has gone on to play 76 Bundesliga ties scoring 12 goals, is said to be eager for a return to England but would not rule out staying in Germany if the financial package is suitable. Dortmund do not want to sell Gittens, but have already been active in the transfer market should the club need to sign an alternative.

Gittens has previously been with Chelsea, Reading and Man City's youth sides before moving to Germany and is a current England under-21 international.
