Schalke 04 are reportedly keen on landing Twente midfieldeer Orlando Engelaar, and the Dutch midfielder is desperate to join the German club were he will link up with one of his old mentors, Fred Rutter.

PSV Eindhoven and Borussia Dortmund are both reportedly interested in Engelaar, but the player himself wants the move to Schalke.



"If the two clubs reach an agreement, and I hope they will, I’d prefer to join Schalke," revealed Engelaar.



"Fred was the one who gave me a chance to develop. He signed me when I was down with Genk and his first words are always on my mind. He told me that as a forward I could become a really good footballer in the Netherlands, but also that he saw a bright future for me in a holding midfield role."
