Arsenal are close to securing the signature of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The Gunners are expected to land a marquee centre-forward this summer and they are yet to choose their preferred striker option.
Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko are the main targets, and Tavolieri claims that the former could join the Gunners very soon.
Arsenal have almost finalised personal terms over a five-year deal with Gyokeres. Talks will soon begin with Sporting regarding the fee.
Sporting want at least £68 million to part ways with the 27-year-old, but Arsenal remain optimistic of lowering the package for a deal.
Sesko was initially the priority striker target for the Gunners, but Tavolieri claims that the club are distancing themselves from the player.
Leipzig have shown no intention to negotiate suitable payment terms.
The Bundesliga giants are eyeing upto £85m for the 22-year-old, which has reportedly put the Gunners off from making a formal proposal.
