France squad ready for Ecuador

France squad ready for Ecuador

26 May 2008 - 23:00

Raymond Domenech's 30 man France squad have been in high spirits as they prepare for their first of 3 warm up matches.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The highly fancied French side are set to start their preparations on Tuesday night when they take on Ecuador in Grenoble, before facing Colombia and Paraguay over the next 10 days.

As usual, the French coach has taken his squad to their training camp in Tignes before the big tournament.

As the squad currently contains 30 players, his men are no doubt aware that seven of them will not make it through into the final squad of 23, set to be named on Wednesday after the match with Ecuador.

Domenech, is well aware of what the players are going through right now:

"As long as I have not written the final names down, there will always be hesitation and doubt," Domenech said today. "It's not a decision you make with joy in your heart."

"I have thought about the form it will take, about all the options, all the possibilities," Domenech said. "I don't know which is the least painful. If it happened to me, I would certainly not want someone else standing next to me."

Fringe players such as Bafetimbi Gomis and Diarra will no doubt be given a chance to prove their worth on Tuesday as they are the two candidates most likely to face the axe.
