Valverde out of Espanyol

Valverde out of Espanyol

27 May 2008 - 06:59

Spanish side Espanyol Barcelona and coach Ernesto Valverde have decided to part company from each other. After a meeting with the Catalan club's president Daniel Sánchez Llibre, Valverde decided to quit the club.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • Ernesto Valverde had a great first half of the 2007-2008 season with Espnayol when he led them to the brink of a top four finish in La Liga but the Catalans horribly collapsed in the second half of the season and could garner only three wins since February.

That impelled the club's supporters to scream for the sacking of Valverde and now they seem to have got their wish.

Valverde though is still highly rated in the football community for his work at Espanyol and although he has a coaching offer from Greek giants Olympiakos, it is believed that he would like to continue working in Spain.
